I have been taking Welbutrin and it is making matters worse. I am six mth into recovery after my H affair. Was doing okay on Zoloft for for the last 3 mth. Then my Dr changed to Welbutrin because of very low sex drive. Been taking Welbutrin for almost 3 weeks now and I have turned into a monster of a wife.I bring up every detail about the affair to my H and it makes him sick. He just wants to forget all and move on. I am building up more and more hate and anger every minute. I think about revenge.I work myself up to a fullblown anxiety attack. So much for improving my sex life. While I was on Zoloft I was quite calm and relaxed and didn't freak out when I had bad thoughts . Tonight I said to H - great you are the one who srewed up our lives and I have to be the one taking the meds to deal with this mess. Anyway , has anyone had a not so good experience with Welbutrin. I also seem to be alot more fidgety and restless. I have to make a choice sex or mega *****. Help!!! Please reply. IP: Logged |

I've been taking Wellbutrin for a couple months. It does make me fidgety sometimes. I took Paxil for awhile and it did help calm me down, but I couldn't stay awake driving home from work. It really scared me to keep falling asleep driving. It doesn't seem to do anything for anxiety for me either. So, here's what I've been doing . . . Taking Wellbutrin to help me cope, and pray when I get an anxiety attack. I ask God to please take the pain and horrible hurt away, and He does. IP: Logged |

hi suzyq, can you call your doc? That is what I would suggest. Sure it could be the change of drugs, and it looks like the most likely explanation, but do not be too quick to rule out other things. The two drugs are from different classes, and actually can be taken together. Wellbutrin is for depression and can make your nervous sytem overactive (insomnia, anxiety, edgy, etc). Zoloft is an ssri, and works for ocd as well as depression. Call your doc and talk. Maybe you are best with an ssri, but not zoloft? Or a combination of drugs. Rule out any other issues that might be bothering you, and physical things such as pms, poor sleep, additional stress, etc. IP: Logged |

Have you tried Prozac? It worked for me. It does take several weeks to become totally effective, but I didn't have a problem with my sex drive while taking it,and it absolutely helped me in very positive ways. Each person's chemical make-up is not the same. While one person has no side-effects on a medication, another may have a serious reaction. Hi, SuzyQ, I had problems with decreased sex drive on SSRI-type anti-deps too (Prozac & later Zoloft). I was put on straight Wellbutrin, since this often has the effect of increasing sex drive, but although it helped somewhat with the negative or sad aspects of my depression, I too felt very agitated & irritable on it. My doc lowered my Wellbutrin dosage, and added Zoloft (I am now taking 150 mg. Wellbutrin SR & 125 mg Zoloft daily). This has been the *perfect* solution for me. I get the calming effects of the Zoloft (and this is good because anger & extreme irritability were major components of my depression), without bombing my sex drive into oblivion. I'd suggest calling your doc & telling him the Wellbutrin is leaving you too edgy - this is *not* good for your marriage!!!! ------------------ IP: Logged |

Suzy, While I did great on Welbutrin, I had a friend who went on to it and the same thing happened to her (she lost the inhibition to the "I want to kill my husband" reflex) Get back to your doctor. Zolfot/Welbutrin can work, and there are a few new antidepressants out there that may help. IP: Logged |

- lower your dosage & add some Zoloft slowly until you get the proper balance 'fine-tuned'. Good luck!
