Hey DB...
I know her lack of interest in sex pre-dates the Zoloft. But, it does have the side-effect of squelching sex drive in many; some other anti-deps do too, but not all.

Here's an article I found yesterday while looking for something else that I never found(of course!)

quote:
CHICAGO, May 19 (Reuters) - A drug used to treat depression has been found to help some women who suffer from a condition that suppresses interest in sex, researchers said on Thursday.

Glaxo Wellcome Plc's depression-fighting drug Wellbutrin SR boosted interest in sex and
increased arousal and sexual fantasies for some women suffering from hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), researchers said.

"By the end of the (eight-week) treatment phase nearly 40 percent (of the 51 women subjects remaining in the trial) reported being satisfied with their sexual desire, whereas 100 percent were dissatisfied before starting treatment," said professor of psychiatry Taylor Segraves of Case
Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

The disorder affects at least 20 percent of women in the United States and has proven hard to treat with either therapy or drugs.

In the study, which was presented at the American Psychiatric Association's annual meeting in Chicago, the women were first given a placebo for four weeks, then treated for eight weeks with bopropion hydrochloride sustained-released tablets, which is sold as Wellbutrin SR.

The drug enhances the presence of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain, which may impact sexual desire. The drug has been shown to reverse or minimize the sexual dysfunction experienced by some users of anti-depressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft that are designed to enhance the neurotransmitter serotonin.

I had bad side effects with Wellbutrin and so couldn't contnue taking it. I am on Zoloft with Ritalin added to boost my concentration level at work. Since I started taking the ritalin, I have had some sexual thoughts that I haven't had in a while. I'm wondering if it's related. Or maybe it's all this talk about sex on this board...

Hmmm. Here's an interesting thought. How about bringing something crafty into the bedroom? Use your imagination with that idea. Or better yet, suggest it to her and let her use hers.

Ecurb- I think that you just about get it, for many many cases. Pretty sad, isn't it?

Truthseeker- have you ever considered bring the dance music and floor templates into the bedroom? If I remember right, he needs the exercise anyway, doesn't he?

I have to shamefacedly admit that last night we were just getting going on a, er, physical adventure, and I fell asleep. Ouch.

Dogbert- time to just admit that she hates anything or anyone that has anything to do with computers. You are a programmer and sex is all over the Internet.

Actually, today it feels like Nov. 1- and it should freeze over the weekend. Time to move again (we've been saying that for about 10 years.....)
